On 24 November 2023, we launched the very first National Illustration Day, and we wanted your class to be part of it.
Our free school resource and CPD session for teachers give you all the tools you need to bring illustration to your classroom, wherever it may be.
Why National Illustration Day?
Illustration is everywhere – in picturebooks and packaging, on posters and road signs, and embedded in videogames and apps. It’s a really important part of the way we learn and communicate with each other. We wanted to take a day to celebrate illustration with young people in schools all over the UK.
How can we get involved?
We would love your class to be part of National Illustration Day and create illustrations on the theme of ‘celebration’.
You can use our free step-by-step resource to explore different illustration techniques and the theme of celebration with your class. Suitable for any classroom, our resource is designed by illustrators Lily Ash Sakula and Toya Walker to support your pupils to explore the themes that matter to them and develop their confidence.
The illustrations you create could become a window display, an exhibition in your classroom or part of a school assembly. Whatever you do, share your celebration with us on Instagram and X by tagging us @qbcentre and using #NationalIllustrationDay.
